What a forwarded call costs

If you forward calls to your verified number, a forwarded call that is picked up on your phone, by you or by that phone's own voicemail, uses your WIGGWIGG units, like any call you receive. Your carrier counts it as an incoming call on your primary plan: with unlimited incoming calls (most Canadian plans have them), it charges you nothing extra. Receiving in the WIGGWIGG app uses internet, not your plan minutes.

One is enough to receive your calls: the WIGGWIGG app, the web app in any browser, or a phone you already own (cell or landline, a Canadian number verified with a code) as a forwarding destination. For texts, you need the app or a browser.

Common Questions About WIGGWIGG Phone Numbers

Do WIGGWIGG phone numbers require internet?
It depends on how you set it up. If you receive in the WIGGWIGG app or your browser, you need WiFi or cellular data. If you forward incoming calls to your verified number, they reach you over the phone network with no internet needed. Texts stay in the WIGGWIGG app and your browser, for sending and receiving alike. For sending, you always use the WIGGWIGG app or your browser, which both need internet.

Can people tell the difference between my WIGGWIGG number and a regular number?
To callers, a WIGGWIGG number appears as a regular Canadian number on caller ID. Some services can still detect and reject internet-based numbers, especially for two-factor authentication.

What happens if my forwarding phone is unavailable?
If your phone doesn't answer within about 20 seconds or is busy, the call follows the number's no-answer setting (WIGGWIGG voicemail with the add-on, an automatic text, or ending the call). If your phone is off, its own voicemail may answer first; the message then stays with your carrier and the call counts as received.

Can I use WIGGWIGG numbers for two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Sometimes. SMS codes can arrive on a WIGGWIGG number, but acceptance depends on the service. Some banks, payment services, and messaging applications reject internet-based numbers, and short-code messages may not arrive. Test before relying on it, and keep a mobile number or authenticator app as another method.

Do forwarded calls use my phone plan minutes?
Yes. When a call is forwarded to your phone, your carrier counts it like any incoming call. If you have unlimited incoming calls (most Canadian plans do), there's no additional charge from your carrier. On the WIGGWIGG side, a forwarded call that is picked up on your phone, by you or by that phone's own voicemail, uses your units, like any call you receive.

Can I call 911 or emergency services?
Emergency calling requires a powered device, working Internet connection, and carrier and network availability. Tell the operator your current location and callback number; do not rely on automatic GPS location.
How E911 works on WIGGWIGG

Can I change my forwarding number?
Yes. Forwarding always goes to the identity's active verified number, one at a time. You can change it anytime in your dashboard: pick a number you've already verified, or verify a new Canadian number, cell or landline, with a code sent by text or phone call.

Can I port my existing phone number to WIGGWIGG?
Porting a number in is not yet offered: WIGGWIGG provides new Canadian phone numbers, so you get a new number when you sign up. Moving your number to another provider is your right. Today it goes through our support: open a support ticket in the app and we handle it at no charge.

Can I switch between in-app delivery and forwarding?
Yes, anytime, per number. In your dashboard you choose what rings for each number: the WIGGWIGG app, your browser, your verified number, or several at once. You can also send calls straight to voicemail. Switching takes effect on the next incoming call. Texts always arrive in the app and browser.

Can each of my numbers have its own settings?
Yes. Every number has its own default routing action, screening preferences, spam filter, and auto-reply text. They never share settings.

Do I need to use the vault to use a phone number?
No. Every identity includes its vault (encrypted password manager), but using it is optional. Your number works exactly the same whether the vault is empty or full.

How does this fit with identities?
Every WIGGWIGG number belongs to an identity: one bundle with its own number, its own vault (encrypted password manager), and its own contacts. This feature is part of that identity's phone side; the passwords and details that go with it live in the same identity's vault.
