A call you answered could fail to connect, and an incoming call could ring a device that was not ready to answer: both are fixed, and on iPhone the WIGGWIGG call screen appears as soon as you answer. Update the mobile app to keep receiving your calls. 911 calls now go through from a number without an active phone plan, on the web and in the app. A new option rings a call without showing a number or an identity while WIGGWIGG is locked, you can paste a number into the dialer, and the web and mobile carts say more plainly what is billed with your plan.
These notes describe WIGGWIGG as it was when this version came out. Some changes apply only to the web app or only to the mobile apps, and mobile changes arrive with the matching app update. Prices and plans may have changed since. See current pricing
The Paste a number button places the copied number in the dialer, including numbers with spaces, dashes, or parentheses. You can check it before tapping Call.
On iPhone, the ringing screen is Apple’s and carries a single line of text. That line now says which of your identities the call is for, next to the caller and, when there is one, the spam warning. What shows while WIGGWIGG is locked follows your Calls on the lock screen setting.
The default setting shows the number and the identity the call reached while WIGGWIGG is locked; its description now says so. A new option rings the call showing only “WIGGWIGG call” until you unlock, with no number, identity, or name. The setting that adds your calls to the device call history now says what an entry contains.
A number whose plan was not active, or that was on a storage plan, could not connect to the calling service, so 911 did not go through from it, on the web or in the app. That number now connects, and only 911 can be dialled from it: any other outgoing call stays refused until the number has an active phone plan.
The web dialer sent 911 with the country code in front, a form our carrier’s documentation says it rejects as an invalid number. It now sends 911 exactly as dialled.
A number whose plan was not active, or that was on a storage plan, was offered like any other in the dialer, the New Message screen, and a contact’s card. Those screens no longer offer it, and tell you why when no number can be chosen. For a 911 call, all of your numbers stay available.
After you signed back in to your account, the mobile app could connect to the calling service with an old access, one that WIGGWIGG no longer routes calls to. You saw the call, you answered, and nothing connected. The app now uses only the access your device was given, and clears any it had kept each time you sign in. On iPhone, the app no longer hangs up while the call finishes connecting; if the call does not connect, it ends the call on its own within a minute.
A call could ring on a device that was unable to answer it. Before ringing a browser or the mobile app, WIGGWIGG now checks that the destination is configured for that number. For the mobile app, WIGGWIGG also checks that it uses a compatible version. A mobile app that is not up to date no longer rings until you update it; the call then follows the routing you configured. If no ready destination can be confirmed, the call continues through the routing you configured, such as forwarding or your fallback routing.
After unlocking, the web app showed “We could not load the Privacy Statement”, and you had to click Try again to continue. WIGGWIGG now waits for the unlock to finish before checking the Privacy Statement version. The message appears only when that check actually fails.
Matching contacts and status messages used to move the keys as they appeared. The keys now keep their size and position while you dial.
The keypad used to fall behind when you tapped quickly to navigate a phone menu. It now responds more smoothly. Key presses stay bound to the call shown on screen and are sent only when that call can receive them. In Notification Settings, you can choose whether to hear the in-call keypad tones. The keypad may stay silent while your screen is locked.
You can now open the keypad to choose an option in a phone menu after answering from the lock screen. The Hide button returns you to the call controls.
In Recents, if you opened a contact with View Contact from a call’s details, the Edit button did nothing. It now opens the edit form. Going back returns you to the contact, then to the call.
When you opened a number’s voicemail from More or by tapping a new-voicemail notification, pressing and holding a message and choosing Call Back placed the call, but the call screen did not open. It now opens.
After a password change, the indexes that let you find vault entries by tag stayed tied to your previous key, so a search could come back empty. They are now rebuilt with your new key when you change your password. An entry affected before this fix regains tag search as soon as you save it again.
When you removed the last tag from an entry, the old search index stayed behind and the entry kept showing up in a search for that tag. The index is now cleared together with the tag. An entry affected before this fix drops out of that search as soon as you save it again.
For an add-on billed with your phone plan, the cart now makes clear that nothing is charged in this cart and shows its monthly rate. It no longer shows credits as applied when the amount due is $0, and the countdown appears only when a phone number is actually reserved. When you confirm, WIGGWIGG checks that the plan is still active or that the trial has not expired. The add-on uses the monthly rate shown in the cart and is not added if the plan is cancelled in the meantime.
The amount before taxes now appears above the residence fields. When you switch payment methods, the previous total and tax details stay visible while the total is recalculated.
The cart said that nothing would be charged today, even though the phone plan could renew later the same day. It now says only that nothing is charged in this cart and shows the monthly rate billed with your phone plan.
The free-trial card for a phone number no longer said that nothing is charged, either today or when the trial ends. That sentence is back just above the button and is part of the button’s accessible description.
The home page and the phone number page said every call shows which identity it came in on. That is true in the app, not necessarily when a call is forwarded to your regular phone. The sentence now says so.
The About page promised more than we can keep, without naming which data it meant. It now says that zero-knowledge encryption covers your passwords and identity details, and that your phone numbers, calls, texts, and billing stay partly readable to us.
Your credits apply with one switch, on by default, that shows what stays in your balance. You choose a payment method only when an amount is left to pay, and the button names the amount and the payment method you chose. Your place of residence collapses to one line once confirmed. For a phone number’s free trial, the card says clearly what it includes: 7 days and 100 units, no card needed, nothing charged, one trial per account.
After tapping Answer, you saw the iOS green bar for a few seconds before the WIGGWIGG call screen. The screen now appears as soon as you answer or return to WIGGWIGG, with the identity, the caller, and the spam warning when there is one, while the call finishes connecting. If the call cannot connect, the screen says so instead of vanishing. These states are announced to VoiceOver. While WIGGWIGG is not on screen, on a locked iPhone for example, the call screen stays the iOS one.
When you answered on iPhone, the app waited a fixed delay before connecting the call. That delay is now much shorter.
